Covenant House Supports a Better World for Our Youth

These are sad and troubling times for our nation. We stand in solidarity with our youth and staff who are greatly impacted—79% of our young people and 74% of our staff are black or African American. They deserve unconditional love and absolute respect, but instead have so often faced discrimination and rejection.

Time and time again, we see the ugly scars of systemic racism and prejudice show up as poverty, homelessness and human trafficking. The brave young people rebuilding their lives at Covenant House deserve to live in safety, with hope for brighter futures—as do all people of color who face persistent and egregious racism.

Without justice, there can never be true peace. We ask for your help and prayers in lifting our voices together to confront and dismantle racism and inequality in order to build the world our kids need and deserve.

Covenant House is on the front lines of the pandemic, serving as the last line of defense for our community’s most vulnerable young people.

We will remain open 24/7. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are caring for over 200 youth and children – the most in our history.

The Crisis of Runaway & Homeless Youth

Covenant House opens its heart and its doors each year to more than 900 youth & children with nowhere else to turn.
Sadly, the vast majority have experienced years of abuse, violence, and trauma.

With God’s grace, our team of professionals and volunteers help them to heal – and begin new hope-filled journeys.

Cornerstones

Open Intake

We are open 24/7, 365 days per year.
No one is turned away.

There’s always room for one more.

Unconditional Love

We love each of our kids
like our own.

If not us, who? If not now, when?

Absolute Respect

Every single one is good, and
beautiful, and brave.

We are so proud of them.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me…

Matthew 25:35-36

What’s new?

Listening to God

As I prayed this morning, I asked God: "What are you calling me to do today?" Often, the “stuff” of the day – and my own humanness – blocks out my ability to hear God answer. Today, however, I sensed God was calling me to listen.

Do the Right (Cov) Thing

"In contrast to the selfishness, injustice, and inequality of the world around us, our 'Cov Community' is centered around supporting one another and empowering those less fortunate to be and achieve their best."

Meet Our Youth

Every one of our residents has a story.

Every one of them is a child of God.

Though they often come to us with painful pasts, they are all united by their desire to heal, to learn, and to grow.

Our talented and caring staff works with them to unlock their unique potential. We are inspired by them – and all that they have overcome.

See how some of our courageous young people are flourishing.

How Can You Help?

In the past 8 years, the number of the young people in our care has grown from 45 to 164 per night. Most have endured unimaginable abuse, violence, and trauma. You can help give them a chance.
