Meet Our Youth: Maliyah

“What I’m most grateful for is that Covenant House New Orleans made a place for me to call home.” — Maliyah

Maliyah has always been creative. Growing up, making art was a way to escape the trauma,
abuse, and homelessness that shaped her childhood. After spending much of her young life
sleeping in parks and cars, Maliyah is grateful to have a safe place like Covenant House New
Orleans to call home. She finally has the freedom to express her true self and create
something she’s always wanted: a better life.
